I don't really see a reason to justify putting it in my journal when the journal itself is a place for music that I either really like, or heavily dislike. I've gone in depth already to answer the question as to why I like Travis Scott. I was under the assumption that the constant discussion about him in this journal and my hip hop journal would have been enough to give off the impression that I'm a fan. I don't see anybody else getting criticized in their journals about their tastes. If this were a Travis Scott specific thread, I'd lean more towards your reasoning.

Once again, I go back to the point that my music journal or w/e is a place where I will put albums I really like, or talk about an artist I really like, in a more formal setting as opposed to making a thread about that artist. That should suffice, but apparently I've been under false assumptions. I'm not going to change the way I format my journal. So if people want to rail me on that, so be it. I don't have to justify why I listen to what I listen to when it being in my journal should be enough to justify it.

And no written evidence? I've talked about Travis Scott more than any other artist in any journal as far as I can tell. My album of the year lists etc should give off the impression of my feeling toward his music alone.

I'm not going to write an entire essay as to why I like the music. That to me is 1) a waste of time and 2) completely and utterly ridiculous. You do that because it fits your setting, but everyone isn't meant to mimic your standard for a journal.
The point I'm making here is that (and I have to assume everyone feels more or less the same way, as I have only my own experience to draw on, but looking at the journals of others does seem to support this) when you make a journal, your primary goal is to get people to read. If not, then why are you bothering? Just write about it at home and show it to nobody. Again I stress that I write a) primarily to express my love of/hate of/interest in a particular artiste, b) to see if anyone else is interested in them and if I can get them to be if not and c) to initiate conversations with people. That's fine if you don't want that, but as Batty says, if you put it out there then expect people to comment. It's a little like Sequiodathing going on some time ago about how people discovered his music online, were complimenting him on it and he was pissed off, saying "that's only for me". Well, if so, don't post it where others can see it, because if you do that you're opening yourself up to comment, which is what the whole forum is about.

Let me ask you this, Ki: if you made a thread, would you be a) annoyed or b) happy if someone responded to it? A journal is just, as it says in the rules, a thread you own. It's not somewhere to hide, feverishly scribble down stuff you hope nobody will see, and then get upset when they do. You can do that, but it's a bit counterproductive in my opinion. I believe journals are meant to be a) somewhere you can write about stuff you love (or hate) and b) somewhere you can get criticism on, input to or comments on your writing. My door's always open; yours, it would appear, you would rather lock. Again, that's up to you but you are, I believe, the exception. Everyone else here (ask them) would be happy to get discussion going on one of their favourite subjects, and to know people are reading their journal. It's what, I believe, we strive for. Who wants to write and have nobody read their journal? Other than you, I mean.

As for writing a whole ****load of stuff, well that's just me. I like to express what I like (or don't like) about whatever I'm writing about, be it an album, film or TV show or comic, or anything else. My main journal's number of views shows at least that people are reading, and no, I did not mess with the clock. How dare you suggest such a thing?

Even if someone doesn't write a lot, like say Mordor, people like to discuss the posts, as you'll see in his journal, and he has no problem expanding on any album or artiste. So nobody is saying you have to write tons on every album, game or whatever you review, but if someone is interested (positively or negatively) then you need to be prepared to enter into discussion. I've had rows with people here about various albums or things I've written about. It doesn't really bother me; in the end, any comment, good or bad, inane or deep, is proof someone is reading what I'm writing, and I'm happy with that.

If you'd really rather there was no discussion in your journal (though I can't think why) maybe you should put this in the OP, otherwise people are naturally going to expect that their participation is not only allowed but invited.
