I was actually listening to a bit of that album a few days ago, but I was switching from so many different albums so quickly that I don't remember anything about it. Listening to it now and it's definitely sweet, though I'll agree that the vocalist isn't anything special.
And if you need more techy brutal death metal then The Conductor's Departure by Anata is a recent discovery that blew me away. The lead guitar is just cool as ****.
