Although I think there is some truth to it I think most of it is media scaremongering.

I remember when I was a kid growing up in the 80s and all of a sudden there being loads of news items , documentarys & tv dramas about how rabies was going to be the next big killer in the UK & how everybody`s household pets were going to start turning into rabid psychopathic killers.For a while it seemed the biggest threat to national security was a Frenchman in a boat with a dog.
I became convinced my next door neighbours dog was going to murder me in my sleep.
