1. What were your VERY FIRST impressions on listening to the album, say from the first five minutes in?
i love shoegaze music...this is a wonderful example of shoegaze done really well. I love it

2. What did you think of the opening track?
great opening track....i feel it has a little more rock but still has that wonderful blanket of warmth i love about shoegaze music

3. What did you think of the next track?
even better than the opening track

4. Did you like the vocalist? Hate him/her? Any impression?
something i love about this genre is the tendency to use both male and female vocals....in this case both are super dreamy and fit the music perfectly

5. Did the music (only) generally appeal to you, or not?
in my opinion the music is damn near perfect.....i certainly need to be in the right mood for stuff like this....which really is often....but this is perfect for that mood

6. Did the album get better or worse as you listened to it (first time)?
with this band i typically listen to their second album much more than this one....still this really sticks out and with the last few listens it has made it to regular rotation

7. What did you think of the lyrical content?
honestly i can only catch a word here or there...but that fine i like the vocals being more subdued in music like this

8. Did you like the instrumental parts?
yes.....the music itself is done very well

9. What did you think of the production?
wonderful

10. Did you know of this artiste prior to listening to the album, and if so, did that foreknowledge colour your perception of this album?
my introduction to this band was live and i was blown away by them....i'm going to say yes....seeing them live was amazing and many of these songs trigger memories of that

11. Is this, generally, the kind of music you listen to or not?
very much so

12. Assuming you listened to the album more than once, on repeated listens, did you find you liked the album more, or less?
i've listened to it four times in the last week....and yes it just gets better

13. What would you class as your favourite track, if you have one?
Grass....when i saw them they opened their set with this track so again a very ingrained first impression

14. And the one you liked least?
don't really have one to be honest

15. If the album in question is a debut, did that fact allow it, in your mind, any leeway, and if so, was that decision justified or vindicated?
its is their debut but i don't think it really needs any leeway....its a great start to a great band

16. Are you now looking forward to hearing more from this artiste, if you have not heard any of their other material?
yes.....considering where they go with the second album i would love to hear a thrird from them

17. Were you surprised by your reaction - positive or negative - to the album?
not at all....again my introduction to them was live and they blew me away

18. Did the album end well?
yes. fuzzy and warm

19. Do you see any way the album could have been improved?
no....i seriously love this album just the way it is

20. Do you think the album hung together well, ie was a fully cohesive unit, or was it a bit hit-and-miss?
very well....i think the song arrangement works perfectly

until the end of winter i'll likely be posting my review on Saturday morning.....work is killing me right now and i like to at least get a couple listens in before writing my thoughts.....look forward to revisiting Old Lady drivers....it's been years since i heard that album

My album choice is

God Bullies - MammaWombWomb
