What is the quintessential Tony Bennett record?

Is he really just a deputy to Frank Sinatra or a fine singer in his own right?
What are his signature tunes, that stand on their own and are associated with him?

After several decades in the business, his back catalogue is sure hard to sift through. Where to start?
