I know where you're going is a pretty scenic place that usually always does well in the ski seasons. In general the West Coast of the South Island has worthwhile winters but yeah, apart from the bottom half of the South Island, the upper half of the East Coast usually misses out.

yeah, from what i've heard, the ski fields get good dumps (except for last season, that was bad) and the rest of the country is pretty mild. It'll definitely be a big change for me, even though it'll be winter there when I go, it'll probably feel like summer for the most part seeing as how I'm used to winters that are a HELL of a lot colder.
