I never felt one was better than the other on RTJ and I've never heard Killer Mike's solo stuff, only El-P's.
It's probably a case by case scenario like most rap duos. Certain songs where Mike kills El-P and vice versa. But I feel they are both on the same wave length and that's why they vibe so well together.
Edit: I typically don't really think or care about those things unless it's abundantly clear that the talent in a group is extremely unbalanced. Like in Dark Half where Geno Cult**** (RIP) was much much more talented than Damien Quinn.
