reading what chula is going through does kind of make me think of co-workers, past and present, in a different light. i've worked with plenty of older folks who were winding down their work career and i tend to wonder whether they've worked these jobs (wal-mart and mcdonald's in particular) for their entire lives. working at a car dealership for the last little bit has allowed me to experience this kind of stuff first hand though. seeing people who have worked a job their entire life without any form of post-secondary education and how bringing in someone younger and cheaper can put them in a situation where they have no choice but to move to a minimum wage job.
cruel world isn't it
