Refugees and immigrants WANT to assimilate. They chose to come to the US or Canada with the express purpose of being a part of the country. We should say welcome, here's your English classes voucher, here's how you apply for jobs in this country, and watch our economy rise. It happened in the 1760's, the 1820's, the 1870's, the 1920's (until the Great Depression, which is unrelated to immigration), the 1950's, and the 1970's. We haven't had a real immigration boom since the Vietnam war, but these influxes are always a net positive.
