I've been watching it and I mostly agree. I also just finished rereading the book and it follows the plot of it pretty spot on, with a few differences. The scene at Laura's grave between Shadow and Audrey never happened in the book, and Shadow never bothered to pack up the house. I suspect those scenes were added to make Shadow seem less nonplussed by his wife being dead. The opening historical scenes have also been changed, with Anasi's being completely different but still amazing. Overall I'm quite pleased with the series for having the guts to go as far out weird as it has so far. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do some of the scenes that play out much later in the book.
As for criticisms, so far my only one is that the sound mixing appears to be a little borked, with the ambient sound/music as loud as the talking volume, but that could just be my TV.
