I mean I guess I'm just exaggerating really. It's certainly not the worst album ever made but jesus is it off from the rest of their stuff. I guess it was caught up in the times it came up in with cruise/caribbean music and culture being pretty big but it just ain't my thing.

I actually think it's one of their best albums. Lyrically, it's one of their most bitingly ironic—including the song you just posted, which involves him singing cheerily about a guy drowning in a river. And musically it's the realization of what they had been driving toward their entire career. While there is some Caribbean influence, I don't really see how it's "cruise music". Its primary influences are Brazilian Tropicália and west African Highlife on side one and American roots music on side two. And the final track is really bleak.
