Why do bands always have to swing so far one way or the other.

Want more extreme music? Well **** any happy chords/melodies and generally **** anything that could be catchy.

Want something weird and dissonant? Let's make it so avant garde it's practically unlistenable to most

Want something more dynamic and melodic? Oh lets drop the harsh vocals altogether.

I really, really like what post-hardcore was doing early on and some major bands later but as they started to develop more into what their unique elements were and became mostly just that they lost me. Keep the punkness pls. Currently listening to the first unwound lp fake train and it's the ****
