Rising to my feet, I surveyed my attire. My Victorian spats were a sorry sight, coated in dust and, to my chagrin, blood. I soon amended the situation with the aid of a delightful trinket I purchased from an obscure online antique shop last Wednesday: the retractable feather duster.



These were produced by IBM in the late 1970s. Alas, they never caught on, and the 673 members of the initial production run were doomed to languish in olde curiosty shoppes across the nation. Needless to say, I was entranced.

After a brief period of vigorous brushing, I was once again replete in splendid Victorian attire and en route to my new workplace -- this time with my scarf firmly tucked into the vivid purple sash I wear about my waist on such occasions. It's useful for securing my Walkman and one of my post-Krautrock cassettes.
