The guy who died is responsible, nobody else. If he had just handed it over and said yeah, you got me officer, he might have got away with it for all we know. I've seen police do that before if it's a small amount for personal use (not me but people I was with). But this guy walked off and it appears he tried to hide the evidence.
I suppose the issue is that you and the online nation thinks it's everyone else's fault but the guy who chose to break the law. And as I said, I am open to the discussion about whether drugs should be legal or not but right now, they aren't.
