Yes, you are absolutely correct. However, Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, the Image Comics guys and the like set the stage for that. These guys introduced a lot more detail into their work. Joe Madureira and Michael Turner definitely set up everything to go mainstream, as comics did in the 2000s. I did quit after that just due to life getting busy, but I remember the transition. Always thought the older art styles were extremely boring, but it was all they had at the time.

This is not in relation to your calling my avatar boring; just have always thought this about the older art styles.
