Yeah, I get what she's going for-- and every pop star has their ~edgy~ phase-- but it really is cringey. It's an attempt to seem self-aware that somehow manages to
still push the whole victim narrative. She'd be a lot more endearing if her and her team stopped trying to make her seem clever in an effort to make her recent
PR slip-ups/lies seem like they were something more complex (everyone's out to get her!!!1) than just her being duplicitous. Even her long-time fans must be tired of it, surely. Also, she should either go back to country-pop or Carly Rae Jepsen-lite type pop like her last album. (This is why I appreciate pop stars like Rihanna and Kylie Minogue; they don't try to explain anything or do cringey Katy Perry type
PR stunts. They just put out music.)
