Continuing my recent funk/disco exploration. I really don't think there's a bad song on this album—the whole thing sounds like snorting a ton of blow poolside in Miami, and I mean that in the best way possible. This is sugary, dancey pop, but with an undercurrent of weirdness that really puts it over the top. It doesn't hurt that everyone in the band is a consummate musician.
Oh yeah, and the keyboardist wrote a bunch of Michael Jackson songs, including "Thriller".

Rod Temperton is a genius. He wrote some of Off The Wall's best tracks too. If you like his style, I'd recommend checking out albums like
Every Home Should Have One by
Patti Austin and
Lite Me Up by
Herbie Hancock where he's a major writer / co-writer.
