You get them a lot in caravans in the public parks here, probably not the same extent as in Ireland, but you see them and you can understand why residents don't like it. My sister's old place had a lot of trouble with them.

Oh we had a riot here, back in the day, when the cops tried to move them on. They claimed ground outside an old factory around a cut-down forest and honestly, you would fear walking past them as you came in. I mean, don't get me wrong: I'm sure there were good ones. I just never met other than loud, drunk, arrogant, belligerent and quite threatening ones myself.
