So I'm watching the men's downhill competition, and my god these guy's are amazing atheletes. Anyone who's taken a run down a race course will agree that it takes serious balls to do what they do. They're flying down what amounts to an insanely steep ice rink at over 100 km/h. I've taken runs down the men's downhill course at Lake Louise, where this year's worl championships were held, and I can safely say there are few moments when I've ever been that scared when I was skiing, and I've had some scary moments. The entire time you're flying down the hill, it's sheer ice, and while you want to bite your edges in and slow down, you know that if you make too much of an adjustment, you're gonna slip out, and you're gonna crash, HARD. Not to mention how insanely stron these guys are. I just watched one guy fly over a jump, good 15 feet (horizontally) and land WAY on the tails of his skis. I've done that, and it takes serious muscle to pull out of a backseat landing, let alone doing it at over 100 km/h.

Your toughest competitor lives in your head. Some days his name is fear, or pain, or gravity. Stomp his ass.
