Some prog fans will loudly proclaim that anything with Steven Wilson in it is great as a matter of course. I don't believe this. I'm not a huge fan of Porcupine Tree, his own solo stuff can be hit and miss, and Storm Corrosion was ****. But then there's No-Man and Blackfield. I've always liked both of these bands, and his collaboration with Aviv Geffen usually bears excellent and tasty fruit. And to have the legendary Alan Parsons working on even some of this is a huge bonus. So far, three tracks in, holding up to the high standard I expect from these two guys. Using the sea as a metaphor for life and relationships is nothing new, but it's handled very well here. “October” is a beautiful song. The London Session Orchestra really adds power and passion to “Undercover Heart”. This is a fantastic album, basically just what I'd expect from Blackfield.
