Default Gangster Education: Lesson One; Blood Nation

The first of the Four Nations, not including the Navajo Nation, is the Blood Nation. The Bloods are a notorious gang from South Central Los Angeles. The common misconception is that the bloods are one gang. However, the Bloods are actually a group of gangs that were getting killed by a larger gang known as the Crips. Therefore, the Bloods and Crips are intense rivals, although the Tookie Protocol For Peace was negotiated in 2004 by Stanley Tookie Williams, co-founder of the Crips. Bloods recognized each other with various bandanas, usually red in color, and signs. The most common sign is the Blood hand signal, where the member makes the word 'blood" with his or her hands.

Famous members include

The Game - Ceder Block Piru Bloods of Compton
DJ Quik - Tree Top Piru Bloods of Compton. (interesting fact, the lack of c in quick represents the c in crips.)
Mack 10 - Queen Street Bloods
Boo-Yaa TRIBE - Samoan Bloods of Carson City.

Another common misconception is that Tupac Shakur was a Mob Blood Piru, but he was not born in Compton, so therefore he was ineligible.

The Blood nation has affiliates in Chicago, New York; most commonly Rikers Island Bloods iniation was to slash the face of rival gangs, and Houston.
