Without radio in the 90's an entire generation of kids wouldn't have discovered metal though.

My perception (in a general sense) is that all music is formulaic in some way, so being formulaic isn't an important factor. Our brains recognize all kinds of patterns and (ideally) appreciate a wider variety of them over time as we spend more time exploring different genres. That's why I can enjoy Seal or Gorguts or Les Rallizes Dénudés or anything else depending on the day: they all thrive within their respective aesthetics and you can pick up on it. If you compare Seal to his contemporaries, he's obviously a better songwriter and had a better producer.

/tldr version: Music is deep bruh. Sonic The Hedgehog has the best soundtrackz.
