I think everyone agrees that metal shorthand for heavy metal and means exactly the same thing.

Listen people, you can dig deep and say Blue Cheer or Iron Butterfly or whatever just don’t. There’s no debate: Sabbath’s debut. That’s it. Anything else is just bull**** trying to be clever.
