It's an interesting thing, to hear violin being used in jazz (I assume – to my incredibly limited knowledge jazz seems to usually involve brass, drums, guitar, piano etc) but while I love violin, I prefer (of course) gentler, softer, more melodious harmonies from such an instrument, here it's quite harsh. Dickey's forte is the drums, so no surprise that they're front and centre, and one thing that really irks me about the minimal jazz I've heard has always been the drums. This, so far, has not done anything to change that opinion.
Okay, got halfway through and this is doing nothing for me except hurting my ears. Jazz is clearly not for me, at least, not this type. Next!
