I think people are mistaking one major thing about my thoughts here. I don't mind lo-fi production, if it fits it fits, but I hate a lack of conviction. I hate making things sound bad because you want to be cool and that's what the cool liberal kids are doing nowadays. If that's genuinely what knocks your socks of go ahead, I won't be impressed, but who cares what I think. I'd rather listen to some kid try his hardest to sound like ****ing Def Leppard (a band I hate) because he loves doing it and wants to have that huge pop sound and would bust his ass to get it over some kid who sloppily records some ****ty bedroom folk tracks and immediately uploads it. I can speak for myself at least when I say that when I used to do that I would always be really embarrassed when showing people my music because everyone can see right through that, they know immediately when minimal effort was put into a project.
