Bottom line, in my opinion: Some objective criteria is necessary in order to evaluate student (and teacher) performance from year to year. Standardized testing currently measures that. If getting rid of it would improve the system, go for it---but you'll still need some sort of heart rate monitor. |
Treating schooling like a corporation is what got us into this mess. I think a census-type review would be much more effective.
