I always felt like Deftones were the muzak of Nu Metal. A bit boring.

Plus Deftones have a pretty clear focus on atmosphere, especially on their better albums. Playing heavy grooves is only part of what makes Deftones the band it is, while it pretty much defines Slipknot as far as I know.
I don't like Slipknot, but I don't hate the band either. They are good at what they do, but just kind of boring to me.

I love slipknot. Especially their first album. It's just loud and angry. A zero
shits given type of album.
