At a staff meeting a teacher asked what we should do about kids who sleep through the standardized tests and I said give them extra credit for demonstrating critical thinking skills. I got scowled at but they claimed to teach critical thinking. Any kid with real critical thinking skills would demonstrate it by not wasting their time taking those idiotic tests. Chomsky makes a great point and identifies a funny paradox.
