Default Stolen title... hope it never makes the charts or I'll have to pay royalties

The chorus is stolen from a photograph one of my friends took (involving a chinchilla and a slipper, don't ask) which had this text on it. This lyric is about what I think she was trying to get at in the photo...

(EDIT: I''ve put the chords in now - just verse and chorus parts of course. If you don't understand the way I do this then tough luck...)
------

We walked past each other once

(VERSE)
-------Am------------------Am/G
I have searched with futility for the perfect fit
--Dm-----------------------F--------E
A cool wind to guide me, not leave me adrift
--Am
A two person jigsaw
---Am/G
Of which one piece was you
----Dm
We came within footsteps
----F--------E
Yet we never knew

(CHORUS)
------F
Never meeting
------Fm
Is the worst thing
Am------------------F
Both of us have ever done
------------Dm---------------Fm---Am
Although we walked past each other once

Am-----------------Am/G
I was distracted as a matter of fact
-----Dm------------------------F----------E
By a torn paper fragment on the pave stone path
---Am
An unfinished essay
---Am/G
A shopping list
-----Dm
You passed as my head turned
---------F----------E
And, in a breath, all chances were missed

(CHORUS - same chords again)

Never meeting
Is the worst thing
Both of us have ever done
Although we walked past each other once
