That's only cos you don't like sports. Liverpool FC dominated English footy in the 70s. Many people would think of "The Reds" when asked about Liverpool.

How many of the Denver Broncos are from Denver? Or any other team? Are you seriously saying that every football (as opposed to footy) team there is made up exclusively of guys from that state or city?
