Because he was a tortured soul that we shouldn't judge too harshly for his drug use because look at how

I love Nirvana, I listen to their three (four if you count incesticide) albums constantly, but this narrative of him being a tortured soul that was ahead of his time needs to end.
His music was an attempt to sound like the Pixies and he was a drug addict that happened to make good music.
