That site did match their estimate and then I did a previous repair and tried different repairs on different years makes and models and the numbers came back good.

QWERTY- yeah it’s at a different shop than I usually use. I’m gonna have it towed over to the shop I like. I know it’s naive to trust an auto shop but at this place I’ve hung out in the garage and met all the mechanics. I’ve kind of taken another approach- I actually think with these old country ****s you’re better off not dickering them to death or being too combative. But like you said I keep track of what they do and the labor and the parts and the time but I try not to come off like a dick because it goes both ways. They’ll do a half ass job if they hate you and if they think you’re alright they might replace an old belt or tighten some **** down for you while they’re at it.

Anyway, I’m afraid I’m going to have to ****ing sell my car. It’s paid for and still worth more than this repair.
