There's definitely a steep learning curve with Street Fighter derived fighting games. I love the King of Fighters series, for example, and it's got lot's of quarter-circle, half-circle (and worse) directional inputs.
I'm used to this kind of thing and pretty good at it on a PS2 controller, but I'm not going to deny that it makes for a pretty big wall to smack your head into if you're just trying to get into these games for the first time.
