The United States of America's self-titled album sounds so much better than the individual parts that went into its creation.
A formally trained, avant-garde classical composer with an obsession with turn-of-the-century jazz and the Great American Songbook wants to make an ultra political, psychedelic rock album with electric sounds made by homemade instruments and no guitars.
What should have been an unintelligible mess ended up as one of the best psychedelic and experimental albums of the 60's.
