I'm also not afraid to admit that some of my priming to like classical comes from computer games. I discovered recently when I got a Mussorgsky CD that Dungeon Master II rips off more than one of his "Pictures at an Exhibition" compositions. And I always said that that game had an awesome soundtrack.
Elite 3 also had a whole bunch of classical pieces and I played that game for huge amounts of time. It had Hall of the Mountain King, Baba Yaga and all sorts of other pieces. Of course in not so glorious MIDI format, but oh well. The stupid kid version of me got a bit of culture with his gaming in that way.
Not to forget Realms of Arkania 3. The
piece that plays in the town is great and I have to try and find out what kind of classical it falls under. I'd love to get more in that style.
