Sigh yourself. Go on and tell me that this is NOT the image hip-hop PROJECTS. I'm talking about people who hear singles, songs on MTV or whatever, and kids who get into the music for those specific reasons, to be "hard, gangsta" etc. Do you know of any other music that promotes violence in such a direct way? Obviously there are great artists - I'm not saying there aren't. But ask anyone who isn't a fan what Black Metal is about, they'll say "devil worship". Ask the same question about emo, you'll be told whining teens. Ask about hip-hop and the answer will likely be guns, bitches and hoods. It's just how it is. You can sigh all you want, and call me a white old man (which I am) but that doesn't change the fact that this is the image hip-hop presents to the world at large.
