i recently found a disc to play. it was randomly in my parents garage and i grabbed it right away. im going to give it a shot at the place where i hoop at. the course is in the woods though and im worried a bit about getting posion ivy from walking around the woods finding my disc

What kind of disc? Does is have a stamp or ink on it?
The best way to start is to throw low speed discs, like midrange or fairway drivers and even putters in some cases. The reason I say this is because a lot of people grab high speed drivers right away and those will only turn and burn on you until you get proper form, which is key. They lose interest after not being able to throw well and get discouraged.
