Disc golf discs are specially made for disc golf. If you just have a Frisbee then, I mean there's no reason you can't play with it but you're not really playing disc golf. It would be like trying to play basketball with a soccer ball.

That's why you don't start with putting, you start with throwing it as far as you can and thinking how cool it is that you almost beaned your friend in the head when he wasn't anywhere near you. It doesn't take
that much skill to make it go a bit far so long as you're not too bothered with exactly where it's going.
