Your musical knowledge seems very limited. For your handful of examples of artists failing I can raise you dozens examples of mid-career genre changes that were wildly successful. How about Fleetwood Mac? How about David Bowie? Iggy Pop? Beastie Boys? Radiohead? How about the ****ing Beatles? Were The Beatles a failure late in their career? Come off it
