The first two albums still work for me. But ya, once they were given free license they often went too far with that angle (and others). Same goes for The Beatles.

Just because (as a band) you are so damn talented that you can ape pretty much any musical style - doesn't mean you should on every album.

Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon and Bring Back that Leroy Brown being 2 prime examples of Queen songs I can't stand.
