Ok so there are a LOT of people in Malaysia who don't understand how elevators work. So when the door opens after having flashed the up or down sign they stand there looking confused and have to resort to asking if it's going up or down. A lot of the times the people just get on and only once the elevator starts moving they understand if its going in the right direction. It's like a luck of the draw for them I guess because it's just not possible to know where these contraptions are going. How could you possibly know, it's not like there's a very conspicuous arrow flashing when the elevator door opens. Who knows what that flashing is about anyway. Weird.
They also believe that if they push the downward arrow it will make the elevator come or come faster.
