You should check out reddit at /r/edmproduction and do the monthly sample contests. Basically the winner of the contest provides samples and everyone has to make a song from ONLY those samples. The winner of that then provides samples for the next month's competition. It's really fun, tweaks creative muscles sometimes but ultimately strengthens them I think.
Speaking of, I just submitted this for October. Most people do EDM of some type, given the crowd, I usually do too but I couldn't get anything going. Everything is fair game though as long as it's from only the provided samples.
It's still open, you should go throw something together from the samples!
