Congratulations! You just got 1K medical for free. Trust me on this: once it’s in collections you NEVER pay. You never even acknowledge that the debt ever existed. Since it’s in collections it already did whatever it’s gonna do to your credit and there’s absolutely no reason to pay it. The hospital sold your debt to a collection agency. That means you no longer owe the hospital. The collection agency bought your debt for a fraction of what you owe. Once you don’t pay them they’ll sell it again and again until it’s just fairy dust.
