I agree with Lil Zhan because most audience members are only devoting about 50% of their attention to you. I know this because I've been in audiences of speaking engagements numerous times. It's not an excuse to shirk doing well, it just means you don't have to sweat bullets over it because nobody'll crucify you for it. It's a smart move to keep a speech like the wedding one short because people will get bored very quickly. It's a valuable skill to keep your speeches concise.
