a neat live album from Ghanese gyil [pictured] master
Kakraba Lobi and another legend
Takada. Interestingly, the album title misspells
Lobi's name in the title, in what looks like the Japanese pronunciation. Even more interestingly (to me) is the track "Eastern African Songs II" being a take on
Mkwaju Ensemble's "Lemore" - which in itself could be a take on another.
this then lead to
Songs of Paapieye by
SK Kakraba
the nephew of
Lobi and takes after him on the gyil. And he's found a new instrument technique for Frown's next album:
"The buzzy rattle emitted with each note comes from the silk walls of spiders’ egg sacs stretched across holes in the gourds".
quality stuff these are
