That’s a great Ron Carter album with BS repackaging.
Dolphy is an unassailable genius. He took Charlie Parker’s digestion of Stravinsky and Bartók and bridged it over into free jazz. There’s these fragments of Ornette’s
free jazz and Coltrane’s
Africa/Brass - it’s Dolphy and he’s so ****ing celebratory with his freedom. It screams
**** yes we did it! And the influence of his incredibly intelligent and disciplined wildness changed the landscape of jazz forever. He was one of the most important voices that said we can take this **** anywhere we ****ing want.
