It evokes the most peculiar feelings. Obviously it’s a party jam so it puts you in party mode but it’s also nostalgic- and I think it even had this nostalgic quality immediately. There’s a slight reservation in the vocals to where it’s not really a full throttle party song. There’s a tiny undertone that’s saying I wish we could find this nirvana but it’s too elusive. Because of that the nostalgia is also seasoned with sorrow. Nostalgia for something that never even really was.
Slade had the first and final say on that song but I like the covers too
Come on feel the Illinoise is decent pun.
Anyway, clear and decisive vote for the original and even though it’s a heralded song it’s still probably underrated.
