It's a drink based on red wine with sugar, spices, almonds and raisins in it. Cinnamon too, since it's specifically a December month drink. You serve it warm. It's amazing when "the weather outside is frightful".

I'd imagine some other Nordic countries having something similar, but I don't know about more internationally.
