There's a really interesting video on smooth jazz from Vox you might want to check out sometime. Trust me, smooth jazz has a lot more musical value than people give it credit for. Especially the stuff that touches on fusion territory.
Sanborn is definitely one of the greats, but he didn't really hit his A E S T H E T I C peak til 1987's
A Change Of Heart which happens to lead off with this stomper.
