Yeah, the atmosphere and style is where a lot of the enjoyment comes from. I think it works very well as a story though. Even if some of the acting is on the cheesy side. Most of it, in fact.
But the story still works very well and there's just so much to look at. If watched in the dark, with good volume to let the soundtrack do it's thing, it's quite an experience.
This time, I noticed so many things I never noticed before. So many small details and effective ways of transitioning scenes or tying things together thematically. I've got a whole bunch of favorite scenes as well. That chase near the end where the sun is going down as they race after Dracula's carriage gives me goosebumps!
